Next Set Makeover

Posted by Summer Bay Blogger  Icon, 08 March 2010 - 08:17 AM

Continuing with the set makeovers which have been taking place over the past year, including the redecorating of Summer Bay House and Leah's house, and the complete revamp of the Diner, Rachel and Tony's place is next on the agenda.

The set was first introduced in 1999, very possibly as only a temporary set, belonging to guest characters Sean Ellis, the older surfer guy who had a brief relationship with the much younger Sally, and his daughter Daria. After they left, the set hung around and has since been occupied by James Frasier, Chloe Richards, Harry Reynolds, then a period known as "The Girl's House", with Sally Fletcher, Leah Poulos, Shauna Bradley and Gypsy Nash, then it later became Sally and Flynn's first home, before houseswapping with Beth in 2004, afer which it became the Hunter family home. It was since inherited by Tony following Beth's death in 2007, who has stayed there ever since and now made it his and Rachel's home.

The set has seen a few changes over the years, with the re-arranging of furniture, an occasional lick of paint and most memorably the extension which was briefly used as a Doctor's surery and has more recently been very much ignored.

The latest change to the house will be its biggest yet. A complete revamp of colour and theme will see it transormed into a much lighter and more spacious looking set. Light blues and purples will play a big role, while the brickwork fireplace that has remained unchanged all these years will be given a fresh new look as well. All-new furniture will compliment the new look.

Didn't Scott, Kit, Robbie, Henry & Matilda inherit the house? I'm sure they still own it & Beth's part of the bar. Anyway, the lounge does look bigger now, although I think they've moved the fireplace over towards the kitchen more, but it's still an awful set. I hate the purple woodwork - why on Earth would anyone paint their windows that colour? I also don't understand why you'd remove half of your kitchen cupboards & replace them with a table.

This house & the one next door are in desperate need of destruction.
